Our Story

Craft Theory DIY began in 2018 in Lakewood, Washington, when our founder Meredith Russell discovered something unexpected — that making things with her hands felt like breathing again.

Growing up, Meredith loved being creative but never quite felt like a "real" artist. She couldn't always get what was in her head onto the page, and without the confidence that comes from thinking of yourself as artistic, it was easy to step away from making altogether. Sound familiar?

What started as a studio space where people could come together, create without judgment, and remember that they were capable of making something beautiful, has grown into something you can bring home. Today Craft Theory DIY lives online — offering thoughtfully designed, beautifully packaged DIY kits that take the stress out of crafting and leave just the joy.

We believe creativity isn't a talent you're born with. It's something you remember.

Whether you're picking up a paintbrush for the first time, making something special with your kids, or looking for a gift that's a little more meaningful than anything you'd find on a shelf — we made these kits for you.
